Why don't the Aston team just quit fooling around and create a new operating system
Sure would like to see someone come up with an alternative (Other than Linux) to Windows

I just moved from XP to Windows 7 and have brought Altdesk with me. It (continues to) work great.
BUT
I was used to using WIN+1,2,3,4 to move between the different desktops. Windows 7 now uses those hotkeys - what do other people use?

At last...

Would there be zCommand functionality/plug-in as well?

The toolbars and zCommand together with Altdesk's individual icons
per desktop was and is still a productivity booster in my Aston1.9.6.

Huh, it was enabled already. I just unchecked it then checked it again. And it asked me to log out, then when I signed back on everything was working fine again. Awkward, but it worked. Lol. Thank you.

Did you check if the Desktop is enabled in Aston2 Preferences -> General tab?
What did change since you used the trial version? Did you reinstall Aston2?

I've recently purchased Aston2 after using the trial version, and the trial version worked very well. But after purchasing the full version, I still have the Aston2 Menu and Panel, but I no longer have the Aston2 Desktop. Why is that?

What you pictured is actually Launch bar which will be present in the about-to-be-released Aston2 2.0 version.
What about 'user defined desktop area'.. AltDesk does the same - you can choose a suitable skin which will aloow you to see all tasks which are present on a certain desktop - and switch between tasks easily.

My monitor blew up (literally) quite recently. I just replaced it with a AOC 22 inch. Problem is, now have too much screen real estate. It was truly annoying at first because I did not want a 22' Firefox. Firefox kinda looks ridiculous at that resolution because nobody's pages stretch that wide. After figuring out how to get the icons and text adjusted (kinda) I decided to try Aston2 to see how it looks. It looks great.

While browsing for "best practices" on how to properly use a high res monitor I came across this article that suggest a lot people with High resolution monitors turn down the resolution. I gotta tell you, I was tempted. Then the ideas hit me.

Why not have a "HD" mode where by you can define a user desktop area(s). Kinda like having AltDesk in a smaller user defined area (or more) on one desktop. You could then task switch in this area leaving the the rest of the desktop for widgets. Looking at my screen there is tons of space to the left and right. After I get the Menu launcher bar configured (when it comes out) there will be even more space. By having such user defined spaces it allows the user to focus on one area of the screen instead of wondering where the app is going to pop up and spread out as high res. This also allows other application to not over lap the would be left and right widget areas. I think this would make high res monitors much more productive v.s. turning down the resolution. Btw, my monitor was $149 new at CompUSA so it is not like these monitors are "out of budget".

I think Gladiators should act before M$ deems 1080p monitors to be not productive for desktop use because they can't figure out a way to use them "productively". Gladiators may also delete this post before someone at M$ reads it.

I created a (not so good) scaled down, cut and paste mock-up image just to convey the idea.

We checked the themes with the widgets you specified and no more than 1-2% CPU was enabled. Evidently, it's some Shell extensions you are using that influence the work of Aston2.

A2 offers full Win 64 support, A1 does not.

Hotkeys will be available in next version that will be released very soon. That release will include many new things:
- Taskbar style change on fly
- Launchbar widget (like panels widget in A1 but now much better!)
- Toolbars - like in Aston1 but much more improved
- Expose like in Mac OS and Flip3d effect in all Win versions
- Above mentioned hotkey manager
- much more

Have been reading help and searching the forum, but still I could not find hotkeys customization possibility in Aston2 shell version 1.6.1? The same like in old astonshell 1.9.6?

Also the preferences section and so the customization possibilities of aston2 shell seem much more narrow, compared to 1.9.6? I guess I'm just not gettin something..please advise the newbie.

I'm on Win7Ultimate. Btw, this aston2 seems to be win7 64bit compatible, while aston 1.9.6 does not function properly on win7, am I correct?
