This has happened multiple times now. I've used Aston about two weeks. For example, I was modifying the Left Toolbar settings in Aston Master. When I pushed OK button, the shell just vanished (Left Toolbar + Taskbar + Background picture). All applications continued running. I had to use shell swapper to restore shell functionality back to normal without rebooting.
Too bad these kind of bugs exist, since I much rather use Aston than the ordinary Windows XP pro shell.

Hi there,
depending on the individual setup, every once in a while, the shell will reload - I'm not sure if anyone knows why, but it normally comes back. If it doesn't, most people just ctrl-alt-del and type C:\aston\aston.exe and everything's back. If you think, explorer does this too (just more frequently), so I'm thinking it's something in the kernel of the OS, or some sloppy call writing on the part of MS (only a guess). The more you recycle a theme (for example, by changing a theme image), the more likely you are to see it.
A note from personal experience, after an extended period of theme editing, you should log off, and then back on again. There are some very strange things that can happen if you have built up redundant information in the RAM, and logging off seems to help. For general use, you'll probably not have this happen. I will encourage you (like I do to everyone) to have the most current set of windows updates installed from Microsoft, as this typically assists with stability.
regards, and good luck!
