This seems to be recurring "problem" Very Happy

I need hidden files, so "Show hidden files" is checked in explorer.

How do i remove "AltDesk Desktops" folder from desktop ?

There was a solution for 1.7, is there a fix for 1.8 ?

Thank you

I thought this was fixed in the final release of 1.8? I'm just getting ready to install AltDesk on Vista so I guess I'll find out. I'll let you know what I find.

Confirmation will have to wait. I can't get AltDesk installed because of some type of "privilege" problem. Still looking for answer to that issue. Amazed that Google didn't turn up something on it.

I wouldn't know about Vista, XpSP2 here.

"AltDesk Desktops" hidden folder appears on the main desktop if/when
"Individual set of icons for each Desktop" is checked.

Confirmed on 3 different XpSP2 installs.

Shocked

1. Enable "Show hidden files" in Explorer (or equivalent Vista settings)
2. Enable "Individual set of icons for each Desktop" in AltDesk

Now ?

Just checked on friends machine: it does that in Vista as well

With additional benefit of showing 2 instances of desktop.ini
with "Show hidden files" allowed Rolling Eyes Laughing
You got to love Vista.

Not to spam this thread (any more then I already have), I'm asking here.
Is it so hard to put that folder, say, into user profile instead directly on the desktop ?

Very interesting, zac. I use AltDesk 1.8 on Windows XP SP2 English with the explorer setting of "show hidden files" and this folder does not appear on my system. I will try with AltDesk's "Individual set of icons for each Desktop" enabled as well. I'll post back my findings.

I have the same situation on Vista without AD being active.

I can confirm the folder on the desktop problem with the 'separate set of icons' switch checked in XP SP2 Home English. It occurred when I had to reinstall Windows from my recovery disk - again!(Separate story) I unchecked the option and was able to delete the folder. I will post again if it reappears.

Something that seems to work for me is to use the attrib command .. something like this ..

Go to a Command Prompt Window, change to your desktop directory and enter

attrib +H +S "AltDesk Desktops"

This still lets you see your hidden files but does not show up since it is a System File, too.

Not sure what sort of side effects there might be, but it is working on my XP Pro box right now.
