|
|
Hi
While I was editing the makrom theme the desktop failed to refresh to show the changes i had made. Thinking i had mis-clicked i repeated the action of deleting the categories at the top of the screen. After a reboot the screen finally updated it's self, showing no categories. Maybe the field size was too small but when I right clicked in that area the option to add a new categories is no longer available. I tried messing about with plugins to get it back and as a result i lost the top bar altogether.
Now i would just like to reset the theme back to default, however i can't find that option. Also, i can't download the theme from the astonshell website as it's not in the list of themes, which i assume because it's a default skin.
Is there anyway i can restore the default skin. Or could someone post an unedited makrom.atz file for me?
Many thanks
Martin

Makrom is a default theme, resetting it would mean reinstalling Aston (which isn't as bad as it sounds).
But perhaps someone might be nice enough to upload the atz.

I would appreciate the atz file as i've already customised another theme and i don't fancy losing that.

I believe this theme came with 1.9.5, as I don't remember it for 1.9.4. And I haven't updated to 1.9.6 yet.

I came in at 1.9.6 so it must be default to that version.
Btw, i reinstalled that theme and sure it enough it helped, but it didn't fix all my problems. The top menu still isn't there. I'm assuming it'll be one of the panel plug-ins that the theme uses. I still have it but because it's empty i can't see it to select it and there's no way for me to edit it.
So, would some be so kind as to upload the two panel plug-ins for me? I know i could reinstalled the app but as i don't know how to backup themes and i don't want to risk losing the custom jobs i did on the other themes.
Thanks.

Oh... sounds like your "plugins.rc" file is corrupt, Martin. There is a backup copy of it called "plugins.~c". These files are normally stored at (with Aston 1.9.6 anyway):
C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Application Data\Aston
So rename "plugins.rc" to something like "plugins.rc.bak" and "plugins.~c" to "plugins.rc". Then press CTRL-ALT-INSert to refresh Aston. That might work.
If not, then you might have to reedit the "plugins.rc" file. Or maybe someone could post a script here that might work too.
See also this post how to edit and add one category to "plugins.rc". From there you should be able to add more.

I tried swapping the backup file and still had the same result.
However, the suggestion you made in that other thread worked a treat. There was nothing under [TreePanel] so there was no way i could edit it via the gui. Adding the text has created a category which allows me to edit via the gui again.
On a sidenote, in case anyone else is reading this thread for a solution i found my plugin.* files in c:\program files\aston. I assume this is because when i installed it i set it so each account uses the same instance of astonshell.
Thanks for the solution!
Take care

You can still add things through the GUI if there is nothing there. Add a folder (category) and then add subitems.

Oh good deal Martin! Oh your files were found there? Oh great! Something else I didn't know. Good show!
Hi Veratil! Well when I first used Aston and I was messing around, I lost everything from the (top) panel too. I probably clicked on theme element or something in the plugin properties. And I remember that you can try to add a category all you want too by right clicking, but the plugin is just invisible. I dunno, that is the way I remember it anyway. Maybe I am all wet.

Go into the Aston Options dialog to your plugins section, you can get into the GUI through the plugins' dialog options.
