In the first place, I give thanks to you for this two awesome program, called AstonShell, and Altdesk. With theese two I can customize my destop, as I want. Really, many thanks for it. Only one probleme exist what I cannot solve: Whatever I do, the AltDesk is always on top, until I minimize it to the tray.

Edit: Oh shi-- I'm newbie, so I cannot post any links... I'll try to put the pictures into my signature...

1 - Here is a pic, my bare desktop's upper left corner - I think it looks fascinating, thank to you ^_^
2 - And here's an another, when I switch to an maximalized window - I know, everyone met with this disappointing phenomenon... XD~

(Also I found a similar topic in this thread, but it wasn't too helpful...)

I checked the AltDesk's all function, but I didn't found any option, what will turn this effect off. Soo... I wish to know, are you planning that you make an option, that'll disable the "always on top" function?

Thanks in advance.

Shanyy!

Well the only thing I know of is hiding it underneath the taskbar. Although I have to admit, I love hiding it with a hotkey. Also don't forget that you can use the Aston 1.9.6 AltDesk plugin as well. Maybe someone knows some more things you can do that I don't know about yet. Wink

Unfortunately, you cannot make AltDesk hide under other windows, but you can make it minimize on use (AltDesk Options -> "Advanced options" tab -> "Minimize on use" checkbox.) Then every time you switch to an app on another desktop or just to another app on the same desktop, it will be minimized to tray.

Thanks for the welcome, and the answer. ^_^

I know about the "Minimize on use" function, and about how it works... Razz In this case, I have an another question: Why don't have the AltDesk this option? I'm not a talent at progrmming, but I think it isn't so difficult thing. XD~

And what's the use of the virtual desktops cells hidden under the active apps windows? In order to switch to another desktop you'll need to cminimize all the windows each time. It's much easier to minimize it on use and call it back by clicking on its icon in tray.

Personally I use the hotkey "CTRL + Num 5" to show hide AltDesk. The click is easy to reach, though not common to hit it by mistake. The display/hiding is instantaneous (if you turn off the animation). I would highly suggest that you try this method, Shanyy. This method may work for you. Also, I have the AltDesk inactive transparency set to where AltDesk is almost invisible, and about 50% opaque when active. This keeps it on screen when needed, but allows me to read through or work through AltDesk to my main applications. Mr. Green

Kess - Hmm... I thought I can use it alike the other Aston desktop elements, as you can see on my first screenshot. Also, I use my bare Desktop very often, so I like it, when every controlling unit is there. (Instead of minimalizing all window I use always the "Show desktop" command, with hotkey.)

Liderc - Yes, I use this hotkeys too. Maybe 'cause it is the default hotkey... ^_^ By the way, the word "Lidérc" means in my native "Incubus". Perhaps you are hungarian too?

No, I'm not Hungarian. Though, my wife is part Hungarian. I have read about the "Lidérc". I liked the name, though I did find the imagery of the featherless chicken aspect slightly amusing.

I seem to have the opposite problem. I use the "Plain" skin with Windows 2000, and I have it sitting unobtrusively on my taskbar looking just like normal Windows buttons.

But whenever I click the Start button, or one of the Quick Launch buttons, the AltDesk display disappears. How can I make it always stay on top of the taskbar?

Yes that is the way it always worked for me Greybeard! Either under Aston1 or Explorer Shell. Although it doesn't disappear, it just hides beneath the Taskbar. Using the hotkey or clicking on an exposed part of it will pop it back to the foreground again.
