Subject pretty much says it all. At first I hated it, but I've gotten used to the way I can pin an app to the taskbar, almost like quick launch, and I click the icon and it expands, then goes back to the icon when I close it.
Is this already a part of Aston2? Which widget would it be? If not, please please please, add it.

This feature will be added in one of future Aston versions.

Awesome-sauce. That is one of the features I love.
Another thought, since I'm at it, is there a way to keep the searches in the bar in Windows7 the same?
For instance: I use the cli a lot. So I generally just type "cmd" then right click the program and run as admin. Aston's search tends to look at just the raw filename "Command somethingoranother.lnk"
Would love you all long time
BTW, how active is Aston2? Seems like back when I was visiting a lot for Aston1, there was MUCH more traffic in the forums. I'd have to go looking for my posts, buried in page 2 and 3. Are all the skinners/plugin-makers and such that used to frequent the boards AWOL until more stuff is brought into A2?

Skinners will return when skinning becomes easier, I hope
There is still no SDK for new widgets(plugins), so no 3rd party plugins for now and less programmers are visiting the forums.

As soon as this is implemented, I will be buying aston... I used aston shell on my xp machine, but then I upgraded to windows 7... I love the new taskbar and I can't stand going back to the old long bars.... I would love to free up the system resources with aston, but I will definitely lose productivity going back to the long task bar bars.... so this is the only thing holding me back from buying aston.....
make sure you can pin them to it and also make sure the icons are squares which expand out with aero peek.... animated and resizable icons would be fun too

The function to pin applications to taskbar will be probably added in the next Aston version.
Animated icons are also planned.

I apologise for my impatience.

I just returned to aston (I used it once upon a time, long ago... Something like... 2 or 3 years it seems like.
Since then I've gotten my degree in Digital Arts and Design, as well as Web Design and Development. I'm looking into creating skins for Aston2 (I'm really stoked about the live desktop stuff too), and I know how to program (for the web at least, although I hear AS3/Javascript and C# are similar, I haven't looked into it). I'm definitely hoping to contribute around here in my spare time.

That would be really nice, Cutless009!
Please write us if you need any help. For now you can use the links to Skinning manual and Skinning tutorial which you can find on our front page.
