I had a very good idea today (not only today, every day ) about something I kinda need... I'm having 2 scanners on my room but can't use neither of them because my OS'es are to new... Drivers are only there for win95 and 98, and maybe for 1 of the scanners 2000 to (so that could work actually ), but my idea was to amke a boot zip with windows 98 or 95 on it... If anyone has some ideas about this, let me know, you don't have to tell me to include Aston, I already know that
Greetings,
Michael

Why not partition and install 9x on it?
Or just install along with the current windows. Dual boot the sucker
Oh yeah, and just have it for scanning. Gool ol' program taking up ~1GB just to scan stuff

I planned to install 9x on it, first I'm gonna look around a bit on the net if I might find soem drivers anywhere, would be better actually... About the dual boot... In my case it would ebcome a triple boot if I'd install 9x on it too... I allready have 2k and Gentoo Linux running on it, and I don't want to partition any more. I have 5 gb for Linux, 5 gb voor data (music, school, etc.) and what's left of my +- 20 gb disk is for Windows with apps etc. And 9x doesn't take a gb, weven windows 2000 doesn't... I thought ,y mate said windows 95 takes 20 mb, or he was talking about 50, dunno anymore, but it aint much anyway I'm gonna make a Linux Rescue Zip too, with support for ntfs, fat/fat32, Linux file systems and some tools to handle every situation, so if windows will fail to start I always have something to fix it Would be nice if I could find some regedit utility for console to, but I don't think tehre are much for Linux
Greetings,
Michael

98 takes up about 700MB, I know this because I used to have a 1.5GB hdd with 98 on it.
95 I don't know. It's not very little, maybe around 300 or something. I know it's not 20 or 50 though.
As for a Linux regedit, do you mean one that can open any windows registry on the computer? Cause I'm sure if we work hard enough we could make one.

Well I had a 1.5 gb hd with win2k, and win2k took about 700 mb, so I don't think 98 will take that much too... Of course it's gonna be the most stripped down version fo windows there ever was... If I'd use win98 I'd use the win95 explorer (sounds strange doesn't it?) because of file size... There's also a win98 lite or something, some guys who used lot from win95 in win98 to keep it low in mem and disk usage... Now I really wanna know how big Windows 95 is, so I'm gonna get my 1.5 gb hd from my server in a few minutes (it's just hanging in there, formatted as fat in a Linux Server without fat support )
The probelm with Regedit is the file format. In windows you have all kinds of api's to edit the registry, but in Linux you simply don't... If you'd know how the file format is there might be a chance of reproducing api's, but with the danger of messing up the registry big time...
Greetings,
Michael

Well the registry is contained in the user.dat or whatever file.. I'm sure I can find something somewhere for it.
EDIT: Ok, I don't know what file it is contained in. I just looked. hehe
EDIT2: Haha, found the files for it ;D

Yeah I know which files it are, but I don't know how they are formatted... If I'd know that I'd already made my own api's for reg access...
Greetings,
Michael
P.s. Would be nice if we could make something to edit the files directly...

If you might want to do a hit 'n run on Trust 7230 Easy Connect I would be very thankfull to you, although I don't think you could find anything about it except Windows 95 drivers... I didn't get to installing win 95 on my 1.5 gb yet, I need to disconnect to get the hd from my server and install win95 on it, and I really wanted to stay online
Greetings,
Michael
