Is there a way to dock AltDesk with a specific screen edge so that when I expand a window that it buts up against it. Ideally it would be nice if I could make alt desk behave like the windows bar, where I can auto hide it and then mouse over when I want it to show.

You can dock AltDesk to any screen edge (Options->Advanced options->Edge snapping sensitivity.) Not sure what you mean for "when I expand a window that it buts up against it" - please, explain it in more details. And alas, AltDesk cannot be autohidden.

I think Bonejob was referring to a window's edge stopping at the edge of the Altdesk skin. So, instead of window being on top or bottom it just stops at the edge of the Altdesk manager. Please correct me, Bonejob, if I am misunderstood.

You have it exactly right Liderc. I find it a bit of a pain when the AltDesk bar is on top of another window. For example in FireFox if I expand the window to the screen I cant see the status bar (When I have AltDesk on the bottom)
Thanks kess for the snapping setting in the advanced option, I didn't look there for it came up with a "scary dialogue" when I clicked it the first time something about making sure I know what I am doing and I didn't want to blow up the whole thing. <grin>

Sorry for the misunderstanding, Bonejob. Unfortunately, this cannot be realized by means of AltDesk only. But if you use Aston, I can suggest the following way out:
1. Start Aston Options, select Right Toolbar->Settings, click "Apply" and "Ok" buttons
2. Make sure the option "AutoHide Toolbar" is disabled (it's on the same tab)
3. Go to AltDesk settings and select some rather narrow vertical skin for it (you can download something from
http://themes.astonshell.com/skins/48/
http://themes.astonshell.com/skins/43/
http://themes.astonshell.com/skins/30/
or any other you like)
4. Make AltDesk vertical (Options->Interface->Horisontal number of cells
=1, Vertical=n)
4. Dock AltDesk to the right edge of the screen either under/above the right Toolbar, or minimize the Toolbar to caption (double-click on the caption) and place AltDesk under the Toolbar caption.
If you prefer to have AltDesk docked to the left screen edge, the same can be done to the the Left Toolbar settings.
Best regards

Kess thank you for the detailed explanation I was able to follow it and was able to setup exactly what I was looking for with that work around. The only thing I would add is that the "Toolbar Limit Screen Space" check box is checked. I am sure you meant this to be checked in your explanation
Here is a link to a screenshot of my right monitor with AltDesk/Aston in place;

Thanks Again

Yeah, yeah, sure, that needs to be checked. Sorry for missing it.

I had the same issue with AltDesk, and I found DesktopCoral. It's basically a docking space that does nothing. So you put AltDesk in there and voila! Docking AltDesk
Note: You need to add DesktopCoral to Sticky Windows

One more thing about DesktopCoral - Get it the way you want by moving it to the appropriate side, resizing it, then right clicking and checking 'transparent mode'. Then right-click the tray icon and exit. Your settings should now be saved and it'll restore them when you open it again.
If you want to run it on startup, just put a shortcut to it in your Startup folder in the start menu, or you can put it under the Autorun action for Desktop 1.

I downloaded Desktopcoral... when you say put AltDesk "in" there... what do you mean? just drag it to that space? Does it "lock" into the bar?
