This is weird. So in case this happens to somebody else, here is what happened. I lost the Quick Launch Panel. I checked the plugin settings and nothing was wrong with it. Skins and settings were just fine. I dropped the AltDesk plugin (I use AltDesk too) and the Quick Launch Panel reappeared. Enabled the AltDesk plugin once again and all is well.
