Well, it's been some time since I've been to the Astonshell site but I'm glad I decided to visit again.
I remember having Aston1 in it's early development but I sort of grew away from it as time went on. It's not that there was anything wrong with the shell..It was just a personal choice of mine.
Now I see Aston 2 and That's what I'm talking About! All the original features of the windows explorer are left in tact but taking on a face lift.
I've always been a fan of the Aston development team as they seem to be very thorough and complete with their coding. Oh I know there are beginning bugs but that happens with any major software.
I'm just now testing the Aston 2 enhancements and so far I'm very pleased.
I will be testing for a few more days but I'm almost certain I will be buying the Aston 2 bundle.
I've tried many windows desktop enhancements but most don't integrate well with the windows environment. I'm putting Aston 2 through some rigorous testing as I use programming software, Photoshop, and a number of other resource intensive programs. Aston 2 seems to be holding up very well during these tests.
You have probably gained (regained) another customer...
I applaud you for your outstanding work.
P.S. With all the gorgeous artwork developed by the Aston team, one would expect a much better looking forum skin.....Just an observation..Not a big thing....
EDIT:
Can and how do you disable wallpaper animations?
Discovered they are a bigger headache than they're worth....

Hi Dookie--
Was cruising the forums and saw your post. I think the setting you are probably looking for is under StartMenu-->Settings-->Preferences. Of course, you could always just change to a non-animated wallpaper.
I've been a big fan since Aston Shell and have kind of followed along with the development team as Aston 2 has come into being. Now that it's a compete package, I'm as big a fan of A2 as I was of Aston Shell.
And like Aston Shell, and unlike other shells I've used, A2 is stable, stable, stable on my machine.

Thanks for the reply dbear...
The setting you're referring to only allows you to disable the start menu animation.
Yeah, I sorta thought a different wallpaper would do the trick but I really like the wallpaper that came with the theme and was hoping to be able to disable the wall's animation....
Don't get me wrong..it's gorgeous but awful distracting..
Maybe I'll delve into the workings of the wallpaper and see what I can come up with.
Thx again..

The theme is one of yours... DJ Hero
This is not a big thing..I've changed my wall..
BTW...Very nice theme..I've always favored gray and black skins..
BTW, I found a Glitch(I think)...If you go to Aston2 Preferences on the General tab, You will see a checkbox for enabling Aston2 Desktop.
I unchecked that once and hit apply and nothing happened..But if I leave that one checked and uncheck the one under it (Substitute Explorer....) and hit apply then I will log off and reenter with Explorer being my shell..
These 2 checkboxes act like they're labeled incorrectly...

Switching off desktop in General tab and pushing "apply" works just fine here. Are you sure your Desktop does not change? Possibly your Explorer desktop looks veru similar to Aston2 Desktop and the difference is not seen. Or maybe you should additionally Log off after disabling/enabling Aston2 Desktop.

If I uncheck enable Aston2 Desktop and hit apply It tries to change me but doesn't succeed..If I log off and back on then it's changed.
On the other hand if Aston2 desktop is disabled and I check Enable and hit apply then it will switch just fine without having to log off...strange...
Just for curiosity what does the Aston2 Desktop do exactly?
Is it a Windows shell replacement like Aston 1?
Just wondering..
BTW
I'm using WinXP 32 bit OS...
I have the free version of Object Dock installed also..
You guys really should consider a launching dock like Object dock or Rocket Dock...
Yes I know there are those that are side panel launchers but I'm talking about something similiar to the products mentioned above...
You guys are really great at Windows enhancement software and I trust your software more than I do others...

Shell is replaced only when Aston2 Taskbar is switched on. Desktop works in Aston2 shell only.
BTW: next version will gladden many users with two new types of panels. Aston 1.x Top panel ('Launch bar' in Aston2) will be present as a widget.

Explorer Taskbar should be replaced (i.e. Aston2 run in shell mode) for the widgets could be placed on desktop. Aston2 Desktop can be switched off.

Why don't the Aston team just quit fooling around and create a new operating system
Sure would like to see someone come up with an alternative (Other than Linux) to Windows
Just registered Aston2.....
